Doctoral Fellowships

Support for Doctoral Fellows

  • One TCI Doctoral Fellowship of $7,000 per annum for each year of a student’s four-year doctoral program (in addition to the standard financial support SETS offers to incoming doctoral students).
  • Two or three entrance awards (of $5,000 per student) to the two or three top doctoral students admitted by SETS as TCI Doctoral fellows.

The award recipients are expected to work under the supervision of the Institute’s Director and specialize in one or more of the following areas: Canadian literature and criticism; diasporic literatures in English Canada; postcolonial transnationalism and globalization theories; Canadian cultural policy; the cultural industries in Canada; and inter/disciplinary studies and the humanities.

No special application is required for these awards. However, applicants to the Ph.D. program at the School of English and Theatre Studies, University of Guelph, who are interested in being supervised by the Institute’s Director, are expected to indicate in their Statement of Intent their interest in being affiliated with TransCanada Institute.

Terms of Award

The recipients of these awards will be affiliated with TransCanada Institute, and be expected to attend the various events sponsored by the Institute and participate, when appropriate, in these events.
